Common Questions About Podiatry Care

What does a podiatrist treat?

Podiatrists diagnose and manage foot, ankle, and lower limb conditions. This includes heel pain, ingrown toenails, flat feet, plantar warts, skin and nail issues, sports injuries, diabetic foot care, and more.

Do I need a referral to see a podiatrist?

No, a referral is not required for private podiatry appointments. If you're eligible for a Medicare rebate under a Chronic Disease Management (EPC) plan, your GP will need to provide the referral.

What are the fees for treatment at Adelaide Hills Podiatry?

We aim to keep our services affordable while maintaining high-quality care. Our current base fees are as follows:

  • Initial Appointment: $85

  • Standard Appointment: $75

Additional services such as shockwave therapy and other treatments may incur extra charges.

Can I claim with private health insurance?

Yes. If your health fund includes extras cover for podiatry, we can process claims on the spot via HICAPS. We are also proud to be a Bupa Members First provider, which may entitle you to higher rebates depending on your cover.

What to Bring to My Appointment?

To ensure the best care, please bring the following:

  • Footwear you wear regularly (including work, sports, or comfort shoes).

  • Referrals from your GP or other healthcare providers, if applicable.

  • Previous scans or reports (X-rays, MRIs, ultrasounds) related to your foot or ankle.

  • List of medications you're currently taking.

  • Any relevant medical history related to your foot health.

Do you bulk bill Medicare?

We accept EPC referrals from your GP, but a small gap fee applies to support the extended time and care we provide.

Do you see NDIS and DVA patients?

Yes. We welcome both NDIS participants (self- or plan-managed) and Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) clients. If you're unsure about eligibility or referrals, feel free to contact us for guidance.

What can I expect at my first appointment?

Your first visit includes a comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and tailored treatment plan. We may also use tools like diagnostic ultrasound or Doppler vascular testing where clinically appropriate.

Do you offer ingrown toenail surgery?

Yes. We provide minor nail procedures in-clinic, including partial nail avulsion with phenol to prevent regrowth. We also use the Comfort-In needle-free system to minimise discomfort before performing the toe anaesthetic block.

Is shockwave therapy available?

Yes. We offer radial shockwave therapy for heel pain, Achilles tendinopathy, and other chronic soft tissue injuries.

Do you have Saturday appointments?

Yes. Our Nairne clinic offers Saturday morning appointments, ideal for those working full time or needing weekend flexibility. We're just minutes from Mount Barker.

What is the Comfort-In needle-free system?

Comfort-In is a needle-free device that delivers local anaesthetic using pressure instead of a needle. It's a great option for patients nervous about injections, especially for nail procedures.

How do I make an appointment?

You can book online, call our clinic, or email us directly. Visit our Contact page for all booking options.
